The Netflix Studios project is a prime example of CMRichey’s ability to deliver high-level technical performance, coordination, and adaptability on a complex, large-scale build. This 177,000-square-foot production facility—featuring six state-of-the-art sound stages—was constructed within a mix of existing core and shell spaces and new construction. The electrical scope included three new Con Edison electrical services with associated distribution, emergency power, mechanical and general power, specialty lighting installations, and a design-build Mircom-manufactured fire alarm system provided by CMRichey.
As a flagship production site, the facility presented unique challenges. Massive power demands required the installation of multiple services and layered redundancies within a constrained footprint. Wide-span, high-ceiling industrial stages were juxtaposed with tightly configured, highly finished office areas, editing suites, recording booths, and amenity spaces across multiple floors. Additional complications arose from ground quality improvements—rare for New York City projects—that introduced outdoor coordination elements typically not encountered.

Already complex logistical and scheduling demands were compounded by COVID-related shutdowns, safety protocol overhauls, and shifting timelines. Despite these hurdles, the project’s delivery schedule remained fixed. CMRichey met the challenge by deploying alternating day and night crews to maintain progress—requiring constant internal coordination across project teams and strategic resource allocation between this and other ongoing work.
Beyond technical execution, CMRichey leveraged years of project management experience, field intuition, and emerging labor forecasting tools to maintain productivity. Daily planning, real-time responsiveness, and collaboration with the general contractor, developer, and other trades were essential to meeting client expectations.
