This 216,000-square-foot E-Commerce Distribution Facility fit-out, completed within an existing core and shell building, highlights CMRichey’s ability to manage large, technically demanding projects with precision and professionalism. The scope included significant upgrades and expansions to electrical distribution systems, emergency power, mechanical and general power, lighting, specialty system connections, and fire alarm system upgrades.
Projects of this scale bring unique challenges—vast open areas with high ceilings, complex legacy electrical systems, and tight sequencing requirements to accommodate third-party installations. All work was subject to rigorous third-party commissioning, adding another layer of accountability to quality and performance.
To meet these demands, CMRichey employed a planning-first approach that exceeded standard practices. Detailed system layouts—such as feeder racks—were developed well before field installation, enabling seamless coordination. Pre-fabrication was used more extensively than ever before, with components including feeder racks, panel lineups, disconnects, lighting fixtures, and multi-circuit wire bundles assembled off-site. This strategy supported efficient execution, enhanced sequencing, and reinforced the overall project plan.
The project was also a safety milestone. Third-party safety inspections were paired with a proactive issue prevention system that promoted accountability and continuous site improvement. In response to project-specific requirements, CMRichey’s Safety Supervisor earned motorized lift safety training certification. Many safety practices established on this project have since been adopted across the company.
This project stands as a benchmark for CMRichey—demonstrating the power of detailed planning, pre-fabrication, and a disciplined safety culture to deliver smooth execution on complex builds. The success of this project was recognized with the 2024 ABC Empire State Construction Excellence Award.
